Maikku and Hammi Mettinen — sisters, designers, makers and inventors. Not young, not new — bringing over 30 years of expertise from fashion and interiors to jewelry. Known for their famous three-dimensional eye and designs with strong aesthetics — functional, fun and built to last.
In 2021, Maikku walked into the studio with an idea. Two years and 53 prototypes later — fitted on children, adults, men and women — EARBIT was born. Weightless, piercing-free ear cuffs that sit higher, shifting the visual focus back to eye level. Not one design. A collection. A system. A new way to dress up.
EARBIT is a family business. Behind the brand are Maikku, Hammi and Mila — Maikku's daughter and Hammi's goddaughter.

BEFORE
LUSTWEAR 2000-2012
Sisters own, internationally recognized fashion brand LUSTWEAR was known for its fun, functional solutions, perfectly fitted garments and products built to withstand both time and heavy use. Known for its innovative in-house printing technique, LUSTWEAR stood out in the market and collaborated with leading brands such as Iittala, Finlayson and Lisn — with Lisn they had two exhibitions in Japan alongside other Finnish designers.
The clothes are still in daily use and the sisters' daughters and their friends still hunt for LUSTWEAR pieces in vintage stores. Almost every garment seen in EARBIT's images is from the Lustwear archive. This we call everlasting design. The brand was founded and run by the designers themselves.
